Here's a list of things you need to consider as you grow your business into a successful home based business entity.

- Don't try to be your own lawyer, accountant, insurance agent, or any other professional you can hire; unless you are one. Even then, get outside advice.

- Take out insurance. Look into basic property/casualty and commercial liability insurance for the business and disability for yourself and/or partners.

- Set-up some sort of retirement account. Nobody is saving these days and none of us will live forever.

- Maintain proper records. Keep receipts and invoices and keep your books up-to-date thru the year.

- Pay your taxes; all of them. Federal, state, and local.

- Don't commingle funds. Use separate checking and credit card accounts for your business. That little extra expense could save you money and save your butt if you are a LLC.

- Always know what you are signing.

There are plenty of other things you need to do for a successful home business, but these are the basics you can't ignore.
